On my new little laptop I get a daily verbal message telling me that the database has been updated. On my older desktop I get the same message but not the verbal audio with it. Any ideas why?

If you go into the settings, then choose the audio settings, it lists all the events and what sound, if any, it will play for each.

For Automatic VPS update the default is to use a file "...Avast4\English\vpsupd" which is that voice message.

I've only been using Avast! for a couple of months, so don't know what it used to be, but perhaps this default setting was changed for some version of the software.

Thank you for your advice. I've had a go at something in the settings. I'll see if anything changes next time I get a notification.
I've been using Avast for years and in my Avast Settings there's a little box to put a tick in so that it will stop all sounds. The lights and warnings will still flash to let you know if anything is wrong or needs attention.
