in the last while everytime I go to a website that has a scroll bar, my computer goes mad, it automatically scrolls up and down (it's jumpy), there is no way to stop it.

I don't know if it's the mouse or if it's the computer. it's a plug and play mouse, connected to a usb port, there was no software with it. Do I need to bring the mouse back to the shop I brought it in or call someone out to fix the computer. please help, it's hard to read or type anything while it's happening. thanks

I had this a couple of weeks ago on my fujitsu lappy - XP pro with IE7 ... never found the reason ... it just stopped

I had reloaded the touchpad driver - and there were a few updates - other than that, no new software or hardware

if it's an optical mouse - what colour is your mat?
he red laser doesn't work well with multicolour mats - blue is anti-red - so could cause jumpy

but also does it happen only with internet explorer?
is it just certain sites?
You haven't inadvertently pressed the scroll button down on your mouse?

thanks for that. I hope it stops for no reason, like it did for you. I have XP PRO, IE7 aswell, an optical mouse and a blue mousepad, but I've had the mousepad for well over 2 years, in the beginning the mouse did work. today has been the worse day, even as I'm typing this it's jumping like a good thing.

It happens with every site that has a scroll bar at the side, any websites that just fit on one page (without a scrollbar) nothing happens. and it's not just the internet, notepad or microsoft word/excel it's jumpy on those aswell.
if it starts jumping about again then disconnect the mouse and see if it stops!

thanks ACtheTroll, anotheoldgit and ChuckFickens. I don't want to jinx it but today it only did it once, hopefully tomorrow it'll stop altogether
