What is the difference between laptops, netbooks and
notebooks, or do they basically do the same thing, because there can be a significant price difference. I am not a computer wizz-kid so I only want to do the basics i.e
surf, e-mail, letters etc. Thanks.

Laptops and Notebooks are the same thing, Netbooks are smaller.

Netbbooks OK if you travel around alot as they have a small screen and are light to carry.

I'd slightly disagree with zac.

these days notebooks and laptops are the same thing (it used to be that notebooks would be smaller but that's no longer the case)

Netbooks however are a lot smaller and will typically only have upto a 10inch screen max and a reduced size keyboard which makes them unsuitable for heavy use and extended typing (they are really only designed for keeping in touch on the move)
LOL

there is an echo in here :)
You won`t normally find a cd /dvd drive in a netbook, and usually very small hardrive. (small in Gb, that is.)
