Black screen on laptop
I have an Advent 8111 wireless laptop, I lent it to a friend but when I got it back it wont work. The Windows logo comes up but then the screen goes black. There is nothing showing on it at all. Is there anyone who can help please.

Try holding down the FN key and pressing F4
I think it's F4 on advents anyhow... look for another coloured symbol on one of the function keys along the top that looks like two displays and try holding down fn and that if not.
Or hold down fn and try all the function keys in turn... apart from the one that has a moon picture... that will just put the laptop to sleep, none of the others will make much difference to anything important
