I'm a little confused when you say you can't see it when you browse your external hard drive.

it should show as a extra drive under my computer

when i conect it to my destop external hardrive i should see it on my hardrive not just connected to my pc,
but i know what you mean i need to see it through my hardrive.
HUH!

Your losing me here!

When you say destop external hardrive do you have 2 external hard drives your trying to connect via USB at the same time?

Or are you calling your actual computer a destop external hardrive?

you got it, i have 2 external hard drives trying to connect via USB at the same time.
sorry if i didnt explain too clear....
Do you mean that when you have both drives plugged in, the 2.5" doesn't show? Does it show when it is the only drive plugged in?

Sometimes there are bandwidth/power issues with USB ports. Also try a different port if you have one.
OK, you also say you have attached another drive to the external drive, if the external drive has a built in USB hub then I doubt it would work if you plug into that. you need to plug them both into individual USB ports on your computer.

Aslo if the drives take power from the computer rather then external power supplies you may need a powered USB hub as the computers USB bus may not be able to provide enough power for 2 drives.

external drive has two USB ports one to link drives together one for a printer
even if it does work plugged into the current drive (daisy chained) then the second drive is not going to show when you browse the conants of the first drive, it will show as another extra drive when you look in my computer.

But unless it specifically says in the manual that the usb port on the drive is for daisy chaining hardrives I suspect it's probably designed for plugging usb memory sticks into.

mmm possibly il check for that thanks for your thoughts great answers much appretiated.
