there should be a volume key on the laptop, or have you got it on mute?

there is no volume button on the laptop and i have checked to see if its on mute and its not.
Have you got the sound drivers installed?

Right click on my computer and select properties and then select the hardware tab at the top and then click device manager and check to see if you have anything under "sound, video and game controllers"

If not go to the sony website and search the support section for driver downloads, find the correct sound driver for your model and install it.

done that . sound max it says.
Try it with headphones, the headphone socket often gets damaged on laptops so they think there is always something plugged in so the speakers won't work.

there won't be a volume button, but 2 of the normal keys (f4 and f4 on my sony) will have speaker icons on them, use these while holding down the fn key to turn the volume up and down but they only adjust the master volume which I assume you have checked using the speaker icon down by the clock.
have you got sound from other stuff?
