An unknown application

"An unknown application is trying to change your default search engine." window is constantly on my screen and I cannot get rid of it. I downloaded `BearShare` after reading a post from Buenchico to someone a few months ago, just about an 1/2 hour ago and this pop-up just won`t go. It goes on to say ` What would you like to do? Keep my current search engine (Recommended)
Replace my default search engine? I keep clicking to keep my current search etc but it makes no difference. HELP PLEASE.

Go to Control Panel/Network connexion and check where you r connected to. Make any changes there

I seem to get the blame for everything around here! ;-)

Something nasty seems to have found its way onto your PC.
First, run a full scan with your antivirus software. Then run a scan with Adaware and/or Spybot Search & Destroy:

If those applications don't do the trick, try this:

1. Download SmitfraudFix.exe

2. Turn off System Restore. Instructions here:

3. Run SmitfraudFix (following the instructions in the link).

4. Turn on System Restore.

I've seen Bearshare install a toolbar and change the homepage/search engine. If you want to illegally download files I am told that there are better programs; if your downloading is legitimate, there are definitely better alternatives.
