How do I set up a wireless router

I just bought a NETGEAR wireless router for my Laptop. I bought it cheap as there wasnt no instructions with it so now I havnt a clue how to set it up and I looked on my telephine line and there is no free connections for the line as my desktop pc broadband is plugged in. Can anyone help me.

Assuming that it's an ADSL router, then it will plug into the phoneline in place of your existing connection. You will then connect your desktop to the router using an Ethernet cable, configure the router, and connect your laptop to it wirelessly.
The router plugs into the desktop PC instead of the broadband modem. The modem then plugs into the router.

That's because you connect the router instead using your current connection, then desktop PC to the router.
