has anyone heard eneything about external graphics cards as i have seen them but every shop says they dont stock or have never heard of them ? i have a laptop and i would really benafit from such a device any info welcome thanks

I've never heard of them.

They wouldn't work right now; the bus speeds for such devices will be too slow externally. FW800 won't cut it.

I believe the only available versions require an ExpressCard slot (maximum throughput 2.5 Gbits/s via PCI-e)...
