mouse pointer opens desk top short cuts when passing over them.rather than double click to open them.
intermittent.dell inspiron laptop.
any help greatly appreciated.

Have you checked the mouse settings in control panel - there is an option you can select for one click instead of double clicking, check that's not selected

mouse opens shortcuts when the pointer just passes over the icon.
