my desktop wont let me get on to my programmes when i click on ebay etc etc it comes up with a box saying (hp direct then a load of letters and numbers which i dont understand

Are you clicking on an icon to open ebay or from bookmarks?
...also....what do the numbers and letters say

i click on the icons, such ask jeeves and it says application not found i have deleted them from my desktop and reinstalled them but it hasnt solved the problem. i click on ebay icon and that says (redirect.hp.com/svs/rdr type=4&tp=dticon&5=ebay&pf=laptop&locale=engb&bd=,,,
