Virus on pc

I have a virus on my pc. I have avast, and have run spybot, adaware, and cleaner. But am continually having pops with security boxes telling me I have a virus. Pc keeps shutting down.

Is there anything I can now try, without having to completely wipe the pc

Thanks for that ZebUK, I have just downloaded Hijack, and had no security pop ups. Is that just temporary?

Sorry, if my question are ignorant. Not very pc minded

Zebuk, I clicked on the link you gave for Hijack. Downloaded it. Checked for problems etc. Now I am getting no virus pop ups at all. Whereas before, they were on screen every 10 seconds.

OK, will do that ZebUK, thanks. I cant understand it either. I now have no pop ups. No security warnings etc. Had the pc earlier this morning, and was having loads of problems. Now its running fine.
