problems e-mailing Vista Office files

I have just got Vista with its Office trial, and everyone I send a file to by e-mail says they cannot open it, nor if I send a file through Works Word processor. Being a bit dim, I tried sending myself a file and could open it! What could be the problem?

The users you are sending your mail to will not have Office 2007 to open it with. You should choose "save as" and select something like Office 2000 compatible.
