hi there,
you need to secure your wireless ssid. the best way to do this is by putting a password ( wep or wpa key). if you read the documentation (data sheet) from this link http://www.netgear.com/products/routersandgate ways/gwirelessrouters/dg834g.aspx. if you still cant do it let me know i will help you. regards

thanks for that sharmaa
if you dont wont to use that you can also turn the mac filter on, on your router. Each device that connects to your router has a mac address (Media Access Control), by turning on the filter you can manually add in which devices you wish to allow access. To find out your mac address goto start - run - type 'cmd' and press ok. Then type 'ipconfig /all' then look for 'Physical Address' e.g 00-11-11-12-5A-1B-DB. Then enter this into you allowed list on your router.

You could also try this very user friendly program called Network Magic it will give you a over view of you network, along with tracking activity and will even pop up with a notice when devices connect to your network and best of all its free.
