Problem after period of disuse

A few months ago, my computer worked perfectly [no internet]. We moved and only just recently, after three months, got the computer out; now it doesn't work. Can anyone explain this please?

Are the cables plugged in firmly?

The machine comes on with some messages that I can't really understand, so the connections are there.
