i am wireless on a desktop which until last weekend was working fine.

tried to go online yesterday but kept getting the following message 'internet explorer cannot display this page'

the reason i am not sure if it's a conection fault or not is because my agv updates on command without any problems, and the icon in the right hand corner shows a good conection.

any help or advice would be appreciated.

away for the weekend so may not reply

thank you

Try the following, run internet. explorer, click tools, internet options, connections, LAN settings and put a tick in the box that says "automatically detect settings"

Also do the above but click security and reset to defaults.

Close and restart IE.
Hi, I am a computer consultant, and have had a real problem recently while setting up a wireless network. I dont know which sytem you are using, my clients was a Belkin, and I was experiencing the same problem as you. Firstly ensure there is nothing like a digital phone which could affect the signal, secondly, if you are running Windows Xp, try a system restore and take it back to the date when the system last worked ok, failing that Belkin and some other products require software updates (Firmware update) This was the problem with the router I was using, and after updating the firmware, and resetting the modem, and computer, it all came back into action. Give it a try.
P.s Also try disabling the avg and any other firewalls or antivirus software including windows standard firewall, as a recent update could be the problem.

thanks guys.

didn't restore, but shut down both zone alarm and avg, and hey presto i got a connection,

then rebooted my pc and both zone alarm and avg restarted and connection was lost.

tried by closing avg but no difference until i shut down zone alarm, then i got re-connected.

is it safe to run without zone alarm and rely on windows firewall?.
