You can set this up in your msn settings. It will keep a record of your chat history for you to read again at your leisure.

As Neilzulu1 say you can set it up
Go into tool on your msn
Options
Messages
And tick message history
Then a little further down it will tell you where the file is... It usually come under received files in your documents
