funny little bullet points keep coming up and dots in between every word

only when i log on to microsoft office or word this happens eg, hello� my�name�is�dee. how can i take these off? i looked at my norton virus and it says everything is ok, checked bullet points thats ok too any ideas?

Have you accidentally clicked on the button that shows all your spaces, paragraphs etc?

I don't know the technical name but there is a button on the toolbar in Word that looks like the symbol for Pi. Try clicking this to see if it switches it off.
