my astra turbo
i may have blow my turbo on my astra 2l dti
i was at 4k revs in 3rd gear and sunnely the rev counter shot up2 6k then stayed there i stoped and reved th car and lots off smoke came out exorste then i cheacked th air pipes from my turbo and intercooler and they had some oil in them also now i can hear a clonking noice from engine when the oil cap is off plus it wont start now

Did the same thing on my X reg 2.0L turbo diesel.
�400 for turbo if you've lucky.
�1100 if engine affected.
The fuel system is badly designed and the fuel pump can only be recalibrated 3 times - new pump is �1000 as it times the engine management.
Parts available from Engine recon centre 01925 231333 who were the cheapest I found.
Did the engine make a whizzing sound for 500 miles or so before it blew.
If you have not driven it after it blew then it may be just the turbo - but 90% of the time its a new engine. The fuel pump can blow as well and recon �500 or �1000 new.
These Astras are very expensive if they go wrong.
Mine is fixed new engine and turbo but the engine management light stays on at first start until reved up to 4K and then OK.
Sorry for the tale of woe but it still pains me even now12 months on.

Had it happen to me in a Rover 225 Diesel.
It was the actual Turbo that went, but took the engine with it. �2000 altogether later (new Turbo & complete engine rebuild)
However it just depends on whether it's took the engine too. It may be that the seals gone on the turbo and it's just leaked oil into it (hence the symptoms) Don't try to do anything until it's all been checked out. I bought a recond Turbo and it was good for plenty of miles later (I was a courier)
