is there a way of using the audio out port on my tv to recieve headphones? as there is no headphone socket on my tv

yep, but you'll have to run it through your stereo or an amp to get any volume.
Just another thought Bob, as I�ve had to do these sorts of things for every telly in my parents house - on one tv I got some cordless headphones where the base/transmitter unit attaches to the audio out port and the �phones have a built in amp, the �phones are comparatively heavy though - my Dad hates them.
