there is nine feet between two 1970s built houses. the deeds do not sow enough detail - each house reduced to smaller than a postage stamp. it seems logical to halve the distance between the properties and extend the line to the edge of the properties. also would any future fence posts straddle the line or go on one side of it. next door have put a fence up a few years ago and have pinched 6 inches. any experience of this anyone. thanks in advance.

My take - The fence is the boundary, the posts go to the side that owns the fence. Without specific plans you can't really say (prove) they have "pinched" 6 inches. Don't fret it & don't get into a row.

Just live with it - it's not worth fighting with the neighbour over it . If you do you'll have to declare it when you come to sell so will have difficulty.
As an alternative draw out your life savings and either send them to a solicitor or make a bonfire out of them.
