Last week I upgraded from Windows ME to XP. When I try to install the drivers for my scanner using the disc I get the following message. "An Error Occurred During The Registration Process".

Can anyone tell me what this means and how to solve this problem so that I can get my scanner working.

All help appreciated.

The drivers for Windows ME are NOT the same as the drivers for XP.

Ensure you are installing the Windows XP drivers.

If it is not a new scanner you may need to download them from the web.

what is the make and model of scanner??
Question Author
The scanner is a Primax Colorado Direct 9600. It works perfect and I would hate to have to just get rid of it, as it's like an old friend.

As Primax do not have XP drivers, the website says to download the Windows 2000 driver onto your xp machine.

Go to http://www.primax.nl/ and then click on SUPPORT and then click on Colorado USB 9600.

Scroll down and on this page you will be able to download your drivers (Windows 2000 ENGLISH).

Once you have download the 5.65mb file go to this link -

http://www.primax.nl/documents/xpmedocs/19200english.htm

This page gives you instructions on how to install your scanner to XP with Windows 2000 driver.

Enjoy!
