in printing, when type is set by hand, what is the name of the thin strip of metal or wood that is used to separate lines of type?

This is from the Telegraph crossword and should be in Quizzes & Puzzles.
not sure of the name for the actual strip, but its thickness is called "leading"  (as in the metal, not as in . . . . .kindly light)
the wooden spacers are "reglets", the lead spacers are just called "leads"

The strips of wood are known as "reglets"

The metal (lead) strips are simply called "leads"
