Yes I know I'm a Dummy (at least I admit it) I have a need to view a BBC iPlayer program and have downloaded the iPlayer but I'm told I need Flash player. When I try to download Flash Player I am told I can't as it is already integrated into Windows 8. Can someone please give me "A" to "Z" guidance. Thanks. Tel

Hi telboy.....I am completely lost when it comes to Windows 8. However, the following might be of assistance to establish 'Desk Top Mode'. :- http://www.techrepublic.com/blog/windows-and-office/open-links-in-the-windows-8-desktop-internet-explorer-every-time/ Al.

Flash Player is already installed as you are operating on Windows 8. Perhaps the following is of some help to you :-

Alston's link suggests that you need to run IE in Desktop mode. I have always done this which explains why I don't have any probs.

Hi Alston & WyeDyde, Thanks for info but it looks like I am a bigger Dummy than most. I am not able to find the window with the "spanner" icon in order to select the "view on the desktop" selection. What page should I have in view in order to reveal the application bar? Until I find the App bar I cant open the tools menu. I guess there is a simple mistake I'm making but I can't see what it is. So I'm in your hands guys. Tel
Morning telboy, when you click the Explorer tile from the start screen IE opens up in "Metro mode" which has a tool bar at the bottom of the page (I'm not sure if it pops up when you move the mouse down there or not). That is where the little spanner with the view on desktop option should be.

Both of you have been extremely helpful and I have managed to ensure my IE is in Desktop mode. I still am unable to view either BBC iPlayer or the ITV equivalent. Both tell me I need to install Adobe Flash Player although windows 8 is supposed to have it integrated into either Desktop or its other mode. Any other help guys? thanks. Tel

Since my last message I have located my gremlin and erased it. Should have checked the Adobe "enabled or disabled" add-on's shouldn't I ? Anyway guys, once again my thanks. Tel
telboy...I am pleased that you have now sorted-out the problem and delighted that you have awarded me ..'Best Answer'. Pity you couldn't have shared the honour between myself and WyeDyed, who I feel sure has more Technical knowledge than I have.

In return, I would like to thank you Telboy. That's another handy thing to look out for in the future :)
Alston, it was a team effort but there can only be one best answer.
Cheers WyeDyed. I agree it was a team effort and we both scored goals.
