Excel 2010-Compatibility Mode

Somehow or other I have managed to switch my Excel to some other type of very strange mode . How can I return to the compatibility mode again

Thanks and no I don't know how to change it. My operating system is Windows 7 and Excel 10. I use Google and have Norton. This particular workbook is the only one to have changed from the compatibility mode all the rest are still OK

Me again. Have just checked that particular workbook and it is a.xlsx where all the others are xls but it will not let me delete the exra x, is this in fac possible to do.
