When typing text on my sony vaio laptop the cursor jumps back to some other spot. I have to watch every letter I type - if I take my eye off the screen, its gone! Particularly annoying when typing an email and the bloody thing lands on the "Send" button!
Would appreciate advice from any teckie out there who know what I'm talking about. Many thanks

OMG Mazie & Blue Toffee - I've gone back on this site and there are dozens of messages on this subject some dating back 6 years or so!!
Concensus appears to be disable the touch-pad and use a wireless mouse - Hello! - its "lap top" not a desk top pc.
Maybe someone out there will come up with something (jumped 4 times in this message and my wrist is nowhere near the touchpad...
I'm not sure if this is of any help but can you disable "tapping" ?

I used to use a Dell laptop 4 years ago, belonging to my employer. What happened to you was also happening to me, and I used a wireless mouse every time I was able to, ie when I was sitting at a desk. But someone showed me how to disable the tapping feature of the mousepad. this allows you to operate the pad by tapping, rather than drawing your fingertip across, or using the buttons. Once that was switched off, things were much easier.
Touch pads are a real menace. It's just a guess on my part, but it is possible that your hand is accidentally coming into very slight contact with the touch pad whilst typing.

A mouse is far better than using the touch pad.

Well I use a laptop and a wireless mouse since I disabled the touchpad because I was having the same problem!
My tame Techie tells me that laptop cursors will jump simply due to 'proximity' passes of the hand. In other words, the pads are so sensitive that fingers don't need to actually touch the pad to make the cursor leap all over the place, but simply by passing closely over it.

I had the same trouble and I was on the point of binning the bl..y thing. Now, after getting his advice, I keep my sleeves out of the way, tuck my thumbs in, (I only use two fingers !) and type with hands lifted as high as I can. Simple. Not.
I Have had this problem for about a month now and it really is irritating! Nobody seems to know all they say is your brushing the touchpad as you type....well i'm not! i have a laptop, i have tried Touchfreeze i have tried a wireless mouse and disabled the touchpad ......all made no difference, i have even tried altering the sensitivity of the touchpad and nothing. So if anybody has any solutions i'd be grateful many thanks
