Help With Webcam.

I know that webcams are used for skype, can they be used for videoing myself directly on to the computer? have done a little reserch and i do have windows movie maker, if so is it more or less just buy a webcam and plug it in, and if you are really up to speed on your tec, what webcam would you advise me to buy there is such a massive choice out there for an old timer to deside. thanks for any help you can give.

Just check if you have a laptop - many have a built in webcam and microphone. You are right, there is a massive choice of webcams, I'd see what Maplins have on offer and have a go with that.

Thanks M, no its not a laptop, so i take it that you just plug in and follow instructions.
yes - there's probably a disk that comes with the cam.
Theres usually a program called 'Amcap' that ships free with most webcams. I suppose if its built in to the laptop then you'll just have to download the Amcap software - I think its free.

Its simple to use anyway, just has start/stop capture buttons.
sorry, just read its not a laptop. have a look through your list of programs to see if you already have Amcap.

Thanks, i did get a logitech HD webcam do i also need to download skype?
Yes - skype is a free download. You download it, make yourself an account on it, and away you go.
