For some reason,my computer has taken to re-starting itself about every 3-4 minutes - it is a Packard Bell desktop running Windows 7. It has done this 8 times so far, and when I started it up I got the black screen with "Start up repair (recommended) so I clicked on that and have been sitting with a black screen with the message "Windows is loading files". I have been sitting here for 25 minutes waiting for something to happen, and it hasn't! Do I just leave it, or should I try something else? Thanks anyone.
Hi deggers -thanks for the help - but although I went into System Restore, the computer shut itself down before I had time to pick a restore date, and has gone back into the black screen with the " windows is loading files " again! D you think that I should leave it doing this or try to get into System restore again?
try going into safe mode "on start up keeps pressing rapidly the F8 button" a menu will come up ,choose "safe mode",or "use last good start up" something like that, then try to see what is happing to cause this problem,if you can get into repair comp while in safe mode use that
