My niece is wishing to purchase a 17inch Laptop which she can take on holidays to Turkey. It must have 'wireless' facilities for Internet connections from a flat where she regularly stays.

She requires a general all purpose machine and, as her budget is £600, I am wondering if the following might fit the bill:-

Good grief, that's hardly a general all purpose machine; cutting edge would be a better description. It will do all she wants so fast that she'll be finished before she starts.
Lenovo is an excellent company and the prices reflect that.

Does your daughter need such a high end machine? She could get a very good all purpose laptop much cheaper, for example Tesco Direct is selling an Asus 17.3" for under £400
Does the flat in Turkey have internet wifi?
This will do all she wants for 220 squiddlies less.

hc..The flat does have Internet Wi-Fi.

Thanks rojash....I hadn't spotted the machine in the link which you have given. I am sure it should give her all she requires.

Thanks rojash and hc for your opinions.

I have e/mailed my niece and drawn her attention to this thread. She is now deliberating on the issue concerned.

Thanks again for your responses.....Ron.
''take on holidays to Turkey''

Why 17"? Not particularly portable.
Size does matter, Snags
We've got a tiny lappy which we take on our holidays, fits easily in hand luggage - ron, bear that in mind for your niece. A big piece of kit will fill up her hand luggage.

Thanks all for the further comments.

My niece has opted to purchase the Lenovo G770 to keep at home, there being a big saving, as indicated by Rojash, to what I had in mind. She is also going to buy additionally for holiday use, a small lappy in line with boxtops advice.

Thanks Chuck... I will e/mail my niece and give her the link you have given.
On the other hand perhaps I needn't bother, because both she and her mother are 'looking-in' and viewing the replies I am getting to my OP.

I am trying to get both of them to join AB and ask question for themselves. Perhaps they will if I tell them that I am not asking any further questions on their behalf.:-)

Chuck......If you are still threaded, I request that you, possibly along with others, would express opinions about the Acer Aspire One 725 as a suitable 'all round' item for taking on Holidays Abroad.

Amazon price is £279.00 :-
