Seems this MAY be a known problem in some versions of Windows.

Have you downloaded all the latest Windows Updates, fixes and service packs?

If not run Windows Update and start to download all the updates.

If you have not done it for a while it might take a time and you may have to run Windows Update a few times to get all the fixes. You will probably have to reboot between each set of updates.

Keep running Windows Update till you get the message "Windows is up to date".

You can find Windows update by opening the large menu in the bottom left, then type "Update" in the search field and it will show Windows Update as one of the options. Select that to begin the update process.
Do you have any items plugged into the laptop such as mouse, printer, camera etc? A lot of blue screens are hardware related. If not this then its probably software such as iTunes. Might also be a good time to clean up your pc hard drive, plus vista is not reknown for its stability. Let us know how you get on.
