If I load an audio cd, dvd or a cd rom in my driver, nothing comes up automatically. If I open Media player first it loads but I can get nothing from a cd rom. Also, if I insert a memory stick into a usb, I used to get a list of options up - now nothing. Has anyone any ideas? Yoy should be aware that I'm a self taught old goat.

I Windows 7 there is an optoin called Autoplay which defines what happens when you do certain things like insert a CD. You can find Autopaly in the Control Panel.

Have a look there. Not sure if the same option exists in Vista or XP.
Download this ... and run it.
Possibly your autoplay handlers have been modified or corrupted.

Thanks very much. I've downloaded the link but it stops working and windows closes the programme. I'll try again later. I'm on Vista by the way.
