My computer is running rather slowly. I remember ages ago, a friend performed a "clean-up" operation on it and it ran much quicker after. Have you any idea how it's done. They didn't use a disc. I don't want to lose my photos etc, I just want to get riod of any gunk that may be clogging the system! Thank you.

Thanks Chuck. Do I just press download and will there be easy instructions to follow. I'm none too confident about doing stuff likethis.
It's pretty much a case of download it, install it, run it, firstly select analyse and then click run and it will clear all your temp files and other rubbish.

have a look here for further info...

thanks for that Chuck and nearly 3GB recovered.....
The main thing to be aware of, is make sure you know any saved logins for any sites you may have set in your browsers, as it will clear them in it's default settings and you'll need to enter the usernames and passwords again.
bit of clarification please ChuckF
Have just follwed you advice given to horseshoes and downloaded piriform cleaner as it seemed like a good idea.
However, after the 'analyse' part, the list of files to be deleted included 2 entries for avg files, skype files and some others which seemed fairly important to me!
Be grateful for a bit more info before I continue. thank you
3Gb? lol
I've just run it on my computer and all it listed for skype is temp files, I removed them and it's caused no problems.

If you're worried about it click on the applications tab at the top of the left pane and untick skype and ccleaner will ignore any files created by skype.

the AVG files are probably old updates to the database which are no longer needed, but again you can unselect this if you're worried about it.
many thanks CF
You may wish to check over what it intends to delete before confirming. Always annoys me when my Net history disappears, and my recently opened file lists have gone.
thank you OG
