Windows 7 service pack

I've been trying to download and install this 'critical' update. Each time I get a 'failed to install' message. My laptop is x64 which I know is important when downloading. Any ideas folks? TIA!

What service pack?!
There are SP's and Security updates for 32 and 64 bit versions of various W7 installations.

Before you try to install SP1 you should do a repair on your updates to make sure that there are no corrupt ones. SP1 comes down as an automatic update for your computer and should install from there .Try the repair and see if it helps you

I have tried several times to install this service pack 1 update but so far have had no success. Always comes up with error message now given up. I too have windows 7 x64
