Toshiba Laptop "click" problem

When depressing the left "click" button nothing happens even though the cursor is hovering over the desktop icon. I have single click enabled. Even double tapping the cursor "mat" does not get any reaction. I have also tried using the USB mouse with same negative result.

Any help gratefully received.

Try swapping the left & right click mouse buttons via – control panel, mouse properties, buttons tab, tick switch primary and secondary buttons.

But I have spotted a (major) flaw in my cunning plan – Oh dear.

Have you tried re-booting?
