I am trying to do a DVD for friends using a purchased copy of Movie DVD Maker by Anvsoft, since Windows have done automatic updates on this computer, I am being asked to either purchase the programme (I already have) or use the evaluation copy which shows on your finished DVD, I contacted Anvsoft and they said I should have to contact Microsoft to send me another Service pack, how do I do this? and has anyone else found varying problems after Microsoft does the Auto updates?

have you tried entering "update" in your search box (from the start menu)? you should get the "windows" option and you can check what's available.

thanks Sara, I have just had an auto update download which , it appears, is where the problem lies, I will use the link you have kindly provided
Thank you
Does the program not allow you to re-enter the registration info again .. off of the Help button or elsewhere?
From website ...
"The disc created by the trial version will show a watermark symbol in the movie. After you purchase the full version, you will be provided with your registration name and code which will unlock the free trial version"

Have you the code and reg name saved somewhere?
Question Author

this is the 'help' I am getting from Anvsoft

Dear J Wilson,

Thank you for your support to Anvsoft.
If you have tried to uninstall and reinstall Movie DVD Maker as we instructed, and confirm register successfully, but the program still reminds you it is a trial version, then the problem may be resulted from your computer configuration.

Did you do "windows updates"previously? If yes, please contact micrsoft for this problem and ask them to send you a different serve package to install on your computer.
Oh That's a crap response .. They are trying to blame on Microsoft to avoid time helping you.
Did you get any registration info/request again when you re-installed it? Do you see anywhere in program Help/'register program' maybe to re-insert the info?

It's caused by an entry in the System Registry or a hidden file somewhere on PC preventing a 'clean' install.

nothing at all just asking me yo purchase it Albags, so bloody annoying, is there a way I can find out what it is stopping this?
What you using? W7 or XP?

Uninstall it again first .. after checking in Windows Explorer to see what name the program makes in it (under Program Files) You need to be sure of this for later searching.
When un-installed, reboot and open Windows Explorer.
Question Author
W7, will do, thanks
Next use the Find Files and Folders .. and search for any folders with that program entry name ..
From the results screen .. look to see where they are ...
like App Data .. or Program Files/Common Files ..
DELETE those folders found (I am assuming you do NOT have anything else installed by that name anywhere)
Next .. will follow when you have come back and told me if you found anything to delete.
Question Author
right done that AL, found them in Prog files, strangely though they were not in Control panel, I have deleted the folder
Did you find just one folder .. or others?
Question Author
there were two, I deleted both
Named as the program name?

OK .. Refer to this guide (keep bookmark) It's important to be careful and be sure of what you are deleting, as you can disable Windows by deleting incorrect things!

Open Registry. Edit .. Find .. Entries .. leave all boxes ticked and search for that program name in box (exactly as it was named in Program Files)
It may take a while. You need to delete whole 'keys' in the name of that Program .. I expect it WILL find some.
Make very sure you are only deleting keys by that Program name. The keys expand into tree entries like Windows Explorer. If you delete top level, it will take out others inside it.

Do a search first, and come back and state if it finds entries by that name .. before deleting anything. You can always start the search again over.
