I've downloaded Firefox (as a second browser to i.e.) and would like to find its ad-block feature, but there are so many add-ons, plug-ins etc. I've given up hope for tonight and will try again tomorrow. Anyone help please? Thanks.

Tools menu > add ons make sure you click on get add ins and search for "add block plus"

You'll have to restart firefox after installing and then you get asked to select a filter when FF restarts, easylist seems to be the default and works fine.
Bibblebub has provided the correct link.

I'll just point out that, when you install that add-on, you'll be required to subscribe to a relevant list. The EasyList option (or something that includes EasyList) will probably meet your needs. If you don't pick a subscription it won't work! (NB: The 'subscription' doesn't involve any payment! It just means that your browser will have access to a list of sites that it needs to block ads from).

Thanks for your answers. Think I've got it now, but still have some discovery work to do. I had Firefox a long time ago and there used to be an Adblock icon on a tool bar to click on, and a sort of tag thing on the adverts themselves to click on to get rid of them. Seems to work in a different way now, the adverts have disappeared without my having to do anything - so much the better.
