problems logging onto sites using Firefox?

I prefer to use Firefox as my browser as I like to block all the ads, however for a few days I have had problems logging on here and other sites, it says I am not logged in, but when I enter the relevant details, it just takes me around in a loop, also when signing into my email account I can get on but every time I try to read an email it asks for my password again. I downloaded and installed the latest version of FF thinking this might help, but it has made no difference. I do tend to block most cookies from my pc, but have enabled ones for the sites that I am having trouble with. Can anyone come up with any reasons why this is happening, I am also running ZoneAlarm, Avast and Network Magic which I know can interfere with some things, but am currently using Google Chrome and got on here with no problems so am pretty sure it is a Firefox problem, but just don't know what to do to deal with this problem.

One thing to check in Firefox is:

1 select TOOLS>OPTIONS from the menus and then the PRIVACY tab

2 change FIREFOX WILL: to USE CUSTOM SETTINGS FOR HISTORY.

3 Next to ACCEPT COOKIES FROM SITES click EXCEPTIONS....

and that should display the sites for which cookies will not be accepted. If there any any there that you recognise then remove them.

That might provide an answer (but not necessarily).
...and remember to change FIREFOX WILL: to the usual setting of REMEMBER HISTORY if that's what you want.
