We have got XP on our Dell PC. On our PC at the moment we have got an older version of Microsoft Word but I'm not sure what version or year it is. I have got a new CD with Microsoft Word 2007 on it. If I try to install the new version will the old one get deleted or will they both still be available to use? Or do I have to install it a certain way so as to have both versions of Word available? Thanks.

Chuck, I'm doing a course which is using Microsoft Word 2007 but my wife is used to using the version we have on the PC at the mo. So if we had both it would just avoid confusion. She probably will start using the new version but just to save any initial problems I would like to keep both versions.

Chuck I notice your link is for Office 2007. Is that the same as Word 2007?
OK (though 2007 is much better and easier to swap to than the truly dreadful office 2003)

Keep in mind you can only have the file associations for each type set to one version of the program, so if office 2007 has the file associated with it then you would need to manually load office2003 and then select file > open to get anything to open in it.
Word is part of the office suite.

Really chuck?

As far as I'm concerned anything with the ridiculous Office Ribbon is a thousand times harder to use - you can never find what you are looking for, and the fact that they had to add all sorts of odd additional buttons and dropdowns indicates that it really was never though out properly.

Yeah, didn't realise that. Do you think I should just load it and forget about keeping the old stuff? It would probably save a few problems.
I think bloated Office 2000 was worst .. and Office XP the best!
2007 is not 'that' different to 2003.
I would change to 2007.
