My stepson was arrested once in Wales for being drunk and disorderly,not a whiff of alcohol on him! One of the officers in the custody suite noticed this and then checked him over,he found the medalert bracelet he was wearing and called an ambulance.If he hadn't been so vigilant they would have put my stepson in a cell to 'sober up' where there is every chance he would have slipped into a coma or worse.

daffy ....happens all the time and if anyone dies, the police are to blame.

Are they drunk?
Have they had a head injury and bleeding?
Are they hypo, as you suggested ?
Drugs overdose?

Police tend to get shut of them to casualty to cover themselves. Casualty Officers nightmare.

A nightmare in UK at the weekends.........Prof Nutt is quite right.........alcohol is a bigger problem than Cannabis and Ecstasy.

I have yet to meet anyone who has smoked a joint or taken an ecstasy tablet (and I know many who have or still do) who has gone out looking for a fight like some drunks do.
Professor Nutt was definitely right, but as cannabis and ecstasy are seen as morally worse to use than alcohol he was never going to convince middle England,and the government, to be logical about it all.
