...and we'll pump your boat full of Hamiltons! Why would a youngster even want this and why would their parents let them and pay for it? Madness. What's happening to our saucepans?

I understood the question perfectly. It's sad when young people want to mutilate themselves. The girl in the article looks fine. Why would she want lips that look like a pair of sausages?

I'd imagine having Neil, Christine and all their relatives in a small boat with you would be enough to put anyone off.

Has anyone suggested this idea to Suella Braverman?

This is what happens when national issue responsibilities are passed to regional authorities. Things get out of step. No doubt Wales will catch up soon, but they have to turn all their roads to 1 mph first.

Slightly puzzled by 'Hamiltons' for a few secs, but then the penny dropped. Hamilton Academicals - chemicals.

Yep well done ken, just a little thought needed!

I would never have guessed that.  I looked at the OP, thought it was something to do with Neil and Christine Hamilton, couldn't see any reference to them in the link and so and gave up.  English works for everyone.

I'm sorry I can't reply to your post as I've no idea what you mean.

There's nothing wrong with my saucepans either, I can cook perfectly well in them.

'Hamiltons' can mean something verrry different in these parts.

barsel ken explained it above, stop it with feigning ignorance you're fooling no one.

I'm picking up some of this rhymming slang now but I never would have got "Hamilton Acedemicals" - what is that, some sort of frat club?

What do you have against the King's English?

As for the OP it is a conversation for the young adult and their parents unless they are over the age of consent and then its nobodies business.

TTT, I was born and bred in Cockney-land and I don't know anyone who speaks that language which is probably why I don't have a clue what you're talking about much of the time.  Language is all about communication - and you don't communicate.

And then TTT seems to get pleasure telling off those who find his gobbledygook incomprehensible. We're not using our heads...tsk, tsk.

Most of TTT's slang is decipherable, imho, but one would have to have an interest in football - in particular, the lower Scottish football leagues - to work out that 'Hamiltons' was in reference to Hamilton Academicals, a Scottish League One club.

Safe to say, a good number of ABers have absolutely no interest in football and would, therefore, be totally bewildered by TTT's use of this particular rhyming slang.

Looks like a lot of Alans in a Brahms again!

Not at all, TTT.  They're your threads that are losing responses.

^^^ thats what i think about your posts, when you are moaning how you can't understand landf, or peterpedant!

it is a shame because you generally have some interesting things to say but many people glaze over and skip your posts, rather in the sam way you claim to skip other people's posts

for example, in nearly twenty posts, only 1 and a half have actually responded to what you (presumably) wanted to discuss.

It's your loss, as naomi says

Well, I'm glad I'm not the only one.

Hamilton's must be from ttts cockney!! Cuz north of border uses Hamilton's for Pakistanis!
