I struggle to squeeze shampoo and conditioner out of the bottles - especially when they are less than half full.
Am I feeble or is this a cunning ploy to make us throw out the bottles and replace them before they are empty?

stand them bottle top down then you wont have to squeeze them
Part of the problem is that they still make the bottles the same size with reduced contents, or bigger bottle with the same contents.

Piper, I would do but they are big bottles with little tops, they won't stand upside down.
I never thought of that, teapots, you could be right
Balance them in a mug or bowl Barry, don't be beaten by a plastic bottle!

I've got some large plastic beakers that will do the job safely, I'll give it a go
If you have trouble unscrewing a small top off a big bottle, turn the bottle in the opposite direction while you are turning the top...Basic physics, it's a matter of leverage and it really works.
Its a much to busy world out there for trading standards to turn their attention to shampoo/ creams/ conditioners, they are almost left to do what they please especially the cheaper shops who tend to dictate to the producers the size of the bottle, and the amount of contents required. I've been using the same cream for years for a certain condition, I only had to touch the sides of the bottle and it came shooting out, now I sometimes think I could do with a hammer.
piper's tip about standing bottles upside down can also apply to tubes of toothpaste, shaving cream, and the like, especially when said tubes are part full.

sanmac, these bottles don't need the top removing - you flip part of them up and squeeze. TRESemmé, if anyone is wondering
Barry1010, I realize that, but I just thought I'd mention that tip. While you are trying to turn the top anti-clockwise turn the bottle clockwise.
I always 'scrooge' shampoo, conditioner, hand cream etc. it is amazing how much I save.
Barry I so agree with you, drives me nuts. Of course it gets worse the emptier it gets. My answer is to hold the bottle under hot water to soften the contents and then removed the top completely. You could stand it in a tall glass filled with hot water for a few minutes - IF you remember!
With arthritic hands I now get a family member to squeeze out my shampoo shower gel etc into empty Carex hand wash bottles so very useful just press the pump.
I decant all shampoo and conditioner into pump bottles using a funnel, so much easier to use.

Some great tips here, thanks all.
It's good to know I'm not the only one experiencing this.
