Verstappen over 10 seconds behind, 5 laps to go. Takes a pit stop, now he's even further behind. One lap to go, officials make a decision that puts him level, no seconds behind,on fresh tyres. That decision gifted the championship to Verstappen. The opposite decision would have gifted the championship to Hamilton. The race and the whole championship became...

Mrs sqad has good taste in men obviously.
Should Britain not be proud of Hamilton. ?
He’s arrogant, and ?
I think Hamilton's great, anne, but as the world knows I am shamelessly anti-British so my opinion doesn't really count. He doesn't even seem arrogant to me; he took a very dodgy result today like a gentleman.
I’m reporting you jno !!!
Red Bull and Max Verstappen were extremely fortunate today. Hamilton was clearly the best driver throughout the race. Mercedes and Hamilton have been the better team for the last few races and I think Christian Horner knows it. I'm sure he'll realise the implications of this for next season. Baffling back-flip from the race officials near the end of the race. I suspect Horner had been trying to get them to change their initial ruling about drivers unlapping, whilst the safety car was on the track, which they did and immediately gave the initiative to Verstappen. But none of that disguises the fact that Hamilton was the best driver. It was unfortunate for him. Will Mercedes mount a legal challenge? Who knows? Maybe they'll put it all down to the fact that this is Grand Prix racing and these things happen.
Verstappan, sorry. However it's spelt, I don't like his attitude. Louis arrogant? Never!
have another go pat!
@17.30.Sorry,i dont know this Verstappan guy either. Is he any relation of Verstappen?
Ok change a to e. It's obvious who I mean. :0)
It seems to me they’ve ignored their own rules in order to engineer a final lap showdown.

It wouldn’t have been the result they we’re hoping for had they followed their own rules, and it wouldn’t have been as exciting, but not being exciting enough is not a good enough reason not to follow their own rules.

Reading the reports, the general consensus is Hamilton was robbed. He controlled the race - he’s the moral victor.

For most of the season Hamilton has had the inferior car (Sunny D incorrectly felt the Merc was superior) and managed to take the championship to the wire, and by rights should have his 8th championship.
I dare say the multi-millionaire tax dodger will take it on the chin,dd.
Well , there you have it , the results stands

No suprise there

2022 , new cars new rules . Should be interesting

you called it right, Baz. They may have made a mess of it but they're not going to admit anything was wrong.
F1 lost.

Reminds me of the European Super League fiasco, watching a sport that involves far too much money eat itself in front of the world.
"Mercedes have lodged their intention to appeal the decision of the stewards to dismiss the team's protest."
It's all over mate .

The result ain't going to change
@19.40.You are sounding like a Little Englander now, jno.I thought you were against xenophobia, obviously i was wrong.
A disgraceful result - if they wanted proper head to head racing, they should have allowed Hamilton in to change his tyres - but redefining the rules about allowing lapped cars on the 'sperm of the moment' is just not on. Sack the race director.
has the fat lady sung?
the problem is that even if they void the entire race the outcome is the same. Hard to know what they could do. red Bull are not at fault they simply reacted to the situation as it unfolded so they cannot impose any penalty on them. Mercedes would have won without the Masi fork up but I don't know how that could be corrected.
How can F1 be called a race when it's won or lost depending on how long the cars stand still for?
