After her ‘performance ‘ tonight how should history recall Serena Williams
I for one , although admiring her tennis skills and power am fed up and embarrassed by her tantrums and sulks - and then trying to justify her actions by saying it’s all about her gender !
I have always thought she was not a genuine person , I much prefer her sister Venus , perhaps less skilled but seemingly gracious even in defeat

I've only read the reports of her tirade but from memory I can't recall any of the men mentioned going to such extremes or being so personally and professionally threatening towards officials. She does have form for this type of behaviour and to play the gender card was despicable. Why does she think that having a child makes her a better person than the next?

Man down the street has tennis elbow says I to him serves you right so he set upon me I ran , luckily I out aced him . that was the net out come of that conversation .
You are the nasty one, RR. You make nasty and personal remarks all the time.

I can refresh your memory if you like...

Serena's behaviour was utterly shameful - she should be fined heavily for unprofessional conduct and for bringing this great game into disrepute. The behaviour of the American crowd was even worse - how incredibly rude to boo the umpire who was only doing his job.
//Serena got a massive fine//
obviously hasn't worked, probably because she's worth 140 million quid!

And yet when a male player in the 70/80s behaved the same he is remembered with fondness.

Nonsense...John M was ridiculed mercilessly from what I remember.
One of your recent comment that caused widespread disgust was that I "settled" for my husband because I was getting desperate. If that's not nasty, I don't know what is.

You hijacked this thread to take potshots, RR. I anticipate you'll be changing your name again soon.

I have never lied about anything. I have not abused you in anyway. Continue in denial if you so wish but I am not going to continue arguing with you, as that's just playing into your hands.

You need help, RR, you really do. If only to remove that great big chip on your shoulder.

Apologies, Jaidyn, I agree completely with your original post.
She is correct, it IS all about her gender............over the past few decades women have been urged to strive for equality, show how "strong " you can be, destroy this perceived subservience to men, stand up to men etc...etc..etc.
The was a term and adjective known as "ladylike" we all knew what it meant in all aspects of life and now that term needs redefining in the light of the antics of Serena.

This is what many in society have strived for and when it is exhibited, it is criticized and it will get more apparent.

Well she certainly didn't exhibit much in the way of old school ladylike behaviour.
CG....that was the point that I was making......."old school" is today just that....."Old School".....a changing meaning to the term.
I understood your meaning, Sqad. Woman want equality when it suits them.
Women for clunk's sake.
That sums it up CG ^^^^
Apparently Serena was penalised a game for bad behaviour, and that is a fairly hefty punishment in a tennis match of this importance. Maybe this will act as a deterrent if she's going into melt down again. The only current high ranked male player I can think of who has behaved as badly recently is Kyrgios. I don't know if he's been docked games.

i have never liked her as a player, she is a great one to be sure but i haven't ever warmed to her.
Margarettom - the loss of a game was for her third violation in this match. First code violation for receiving coaching signals, second violation for smashing racket, third violation for verbal abuse to umpire. You'd think that if she was really mature she would have got the hint after her 2 violations - she knows what the rules are.
