...it's better to keep asking questions in here rather than Google things for oneself? Get other people to do the work for you instead of looking for yourself, is this how AB works......

yes i think it's more precise and yet varied on here and the replies have not been unfairly listed at the top of the results based on money paid rather than accuracy or relevence
I Google things that can be googled, yes.
I google things which are obviously googleable (facts etc), but often I value the personal and professional opinions of people on here, too. I wouldn't expect other people to have to google for me.
I usually google if I can but sometimes it's the communicating with others that is the attraction rather than a quick answer don't you think?
Same as Boxy. I like a bit of chit chat as well.
If you ask on Google how much tax does Google pay do you get a correct answer?
Its a question and answer site. Some people are better at research than others. I see no problem in asking.

I'm pretty good at googling so when I do ask a question i'm usually looking for an opinion or some local knowledge; less interested in a link that I could have found muself.
LOL do you remember when Mark used to post that video of how to look things up in Google?
In DIY, I Google quite a lot for people. I can have a read, and "interpret" it for them. It seems to work well :o)
no....i google. it really annoys me when people are too lazy or dim to try google forst. then i usually come on here and chat about the information i have found. i feel it is impolite to expect other users to do the legwork for you....x
i only ask for help when google fails, or i simply don't know where to look for the info
I think Answerbank and Google can co exist quite happily. On here we can be vague and hope someone can help.
I first Google to see if there's help out there, if none then I would ask on here.

Other times I ask a question to stimulate a conversation, and to get others opinions.

It's sites like these which provides answers when one asks questions or searches for information.

I do similar lcg, but must confess I feel that a very small percentage of people may expect too much from the kind hearted folk on AB and take advantage of their help. Often not even trying to Google or search their requirements, seems a bit of a cheek to me. Often it's quicker to Google than ask on here but can see why we do ask here because of how friendly a site it is and how people show they care.
like the bloke who asked the same question 208 times, a scammer perhaps, but he clogged up the system for a bit...
Well spammers aside, if the site did not attract questions - it would close.
spammer, sorry don't know where got scammer from. I know but he was rude and offensive... perhaps he was bored.
I agree with daisya, some people on here are too lazy to do anything for themselves. I scroll though "Crosswords" first to see if someone has already asked for the answer I want, then if no luck I google it and on the odd occasion I cannot find then I ask. I also wonder why some people don't ask for a small spellchecker for their birthday/xmas prezzie to help them rather than ask on A/B.
It's easy to google something when you know what you're looking for. I once had a question about an Island I'd heard of where the animals had developed differently so looked similar to our own species of ... oh say rabbit... but not quite the same... And I wanted to read more about it. Try typing that level of vagueness in to google and see how it responds! However on here, someone actually knew exactly what I was talking about.

Also, I might google something to death, read loads about it but actually just want to ask opinions of people who perhaps use said item... which leads me nicely on to my first question here which was about epilators.

Incidently, I do think there's a rather snide element to this question.
