See Ravi Bopara chosen for England one day squad against New Zealand. How many more failures will he be allowed? Bet if he played for any other county but Essex, with the Graham Gooch and Andy Flower influence on selection, not to mention Alistair Cook, he would have consigned to the "dustbin" long ago.

Blimey, that is a shock.
I honestly thought he was consigned to the ranks of ex England players some time ago.
Can they really justify his selection with Root and Bairstow currently doing so well (along with several others) elsewhere?

Spot on grumpy. Everyone can accept failure but Bopara makes it worse for himself by portraying the arrogance of tendulkar or ponting without producing the goods time after time. I feel for the likes of luke wright et al.
Bopara must rank alongside Ramps as the two most gifted English players who were majestic at county level but never quite made the jump across into international cricket.

Ravi's had more last chances than Gazza!
I know what you're getting at chill but I wouldn't put Bopara in Ramp's league. Just goes to show how much of top level cricket is in the head when you compare the styles and careers of Paul collingwood and Mark ramprakash.
