Is there a limit as to how many entrants each country can have in each event. What's is to stop a country entering 10 guys in a race, providing they hit the qualifying time.

The latest Olylmpic Charter states

"The number of entries in the individual events shall not exceed that provided for in the World Championships and shall, in no event, exceed three per country. The IOC Executive Board may grant exceptions for certain winter sports.

For team sports, the number of teams shall not exceed twelve teams for each gender...

Wwould cost to much to send them to the games .
Different events stipulate the number of entrants for each event from individual countries. For example, in the sailing Finn class only one entrant, whereas womens hep there are two.

Hardly a credible answer.

It would not cost much for say France to send athletes to the games, probably less than Team GB sending someone from say Northern Ireland or Scotland.

The Olympic Charter says the same...
