a friend of mine took her driving test yesterday and made a mess of the first manouver, she asked him if she had falied and he said yes, so she said we may as well go back now then, and he said if we do we have to lock the car and walk back to the test centre, or carry on with the test. i didnt think they were allowed to tell you through the test if you had failed?

thats not true. if you commit a "dangerous fault" the examiner has NO CHOICE but to tell you you failed ans walk back to the test centre, so yes, they can tell you during the test you have failed
Wehn i said "thats not true" i was refering to gina, not docspock, who i wholeheartedly agree with!

doc, i didnt ask a questrion about my spelling, so why bother answering?
Question Author
so if you have failed why do you have to carry on with the test as though you were doing ok??
So you can get feedback on all the other 'manoovers' it is necessary to undertake - rather than just waste your whole fee. Could be useful, that.
what did she do on her first... action thingy?

that was her first
Admitedly my first test was in 1976. I was nervous, I made silly mi stakes, and I knew I failed not long into the test. Neither of us said as such, but it was obvious.

However, taking that test fully prepared me for what to expect with test 2, so I had less nerves, knew more what to expect, and passed.

Your friend was silly to just walk. (if she did) and the examiner was following procedure.

no she didnt walk, she carried on with the test but obviously didnt have her heart in it
If we are asked outright, of course we will say.
If a candidate asks directly, yes, the examiner will say.
