Legend - do you live here now? If so, I'm really envious. I was taken there by a couple of friends while I was in Tenerife.
I still remember when I first arrived. We drove right around the island, almost, and every bit of it stunned me. I was 17 years old. It struck me as a huge, beautiful, exotic rock garden. When we stopped for coffees, everyone spoke Spanish and invited us to meet their neighbours. As we were travelling with people from Tenerife there were links there, but I think they'd have been like that anyhow. When we arrived at where we were staying, we went to the beach and it struck me how modest (i.e. no topless etc) everyone was compared to Tenerife, which is when it first struck me that the beach was full of Gomerians and not tourists. Plus, there was an ice-cream-man there in an ancient hut selling homemade ice cream who was doing a roaring trade due to his ice cream being gorgeous. I will never forget that ice cream. I was nearly ill on the amounts I had. In the night, we found a coffee house nearby where the entertainment happened to be a mix of an Irish songster/guitarist and a Spanish guitarist. I joined in on my penny whistle.

It's one of those places that you fall in love with, at least I did.
