There is a chance that my partner may get a promotion in Southampton & we would move there. We live in Bristol & enjoy living in the city with easy access to its diverse bars & restaurants. We get the impression that Southampton is not quite as vibrant & cosmopolitan a city as Bristol but perhaps we're wrong? We're unsure where the best place for us to live in Southampton would be. If there aren't any suitable places within Southampton, we would consider living outside as long as it would be fairly easy to get to the city for work. Any advice would be welcome, please!

If you want to stay in the city you should look at properties in the marina area. They're quite expensive.
Otherwise,Chandler's Ford is a popular area.About 6 miles out .Nice houses,good schools.

Thanks, that's helpful. I've heard of Ocean Village which I thought may be a good place to rent a flat while we get to know the area before buying. I will look into Chandler's Ford.
Thanks.
