The run of England in the womens football world cup gave us a lot of entertainment. They played well and just missed out with winning it. They have done a lot for the sport and i think the future for them looks bright. Do others agree?.

Good on the girls they should be proud of themselves, they are after all still the Euro Champions and getting to a world cup final is an achievement in itself. I'm Proud of them Well done Ladies.

Yesterday's loss will take some getting over, but once that is done, if they continue to improve, there's no reason why they can't successfully defend their European crown in Switzerland in 2025.

I think that they did exceptionally well and they should be proud of their achievements.

"And I want to ask Britain.
Why?"

Why ask Britain? - this is an English team, made up of English ladies.
The lasses dun great. Next time for the winner maybe.

I think the UK can feel good about any of our nations doing well, although obviously one prefers it to be one's own.

LandF, what makes you feel that the team is not going to be appreciated? Do you have English friends, access to all the English media and so on? I'm curious, would like to know how informed your opinion is!
Is pride in one's country's successes in sport a case of Nationalism. Well, yes of course it is, but within this context I don't see it as particularly objectionable. Friendly rivalry adds spice.

Surely Nationalism is only deplorable when it leads to inflicting harm on another nation's people.

Thanks, landF. The sentiments in the OP resonate more with me, your comments seem rather skewed!
This was so bad that it made me laugh ...

Just watch the video.

Re the Lionesses, I prefer women's football to men's, but that isn't saying a lot. I do agree that they've done a lot for their sport and I agree their future for them looks bright. I just prefer other sports, that's all.

In the final, the lionesses were poor, their midfield was overrun by the faster, more skilful Spaniards. The defence let gaps due to the speed of the opposition and the forwards were well dominate by the Spaniards.

Yes, the girls did well to get to the final, but that is where it ends....they were losers.

Yes, they will improve, but so will other countries.

The were lucky to beat Nigeria and Australia.

LandF, I found the original post quite interesting, your comments are wandering too far off the topic to hold my attention.
PS Enjoy your conductors.

Thanks, landF, the original post - and the relevant comments - are definitely interesting to read, so I was (am ) reluctant to be sidetracked.I still have no more understanding of your comments at 16.32 - but I will cope, I'm sure.
The people of AB are not compelled to agree with William's opinion but many seem to share in his sense of pride and sense of hope for the future.
Yes
I think the team did great and they should be very proud of themselves. I have great respect for them but I cannot be proud of them - I had no hand in their achievement.
